The current activities of Esplodenti Sabino S.p.A. are a continuation of the long history of the company in the military field which has made it possible to develop production processes necessary for the recovery of raw materials, mainly explosives, metals and plastics. All waste materials are returned to the economy.
The road traveled so far has allowed us to acquire an experience in the world of explosives, now recognized throughout the world. Research and development in this sector are fundamental for the standardization of processes and the improvement of quality and safety.
The ES priority is to recover the materials in safe conditions without harming the environment, therefore treating liquid, solid and gaseous waste according to careful environmental procedures.
Demilitarization of ammunitions
Demilitarization takes place through the recovery of most components to recovery for civilian end industrial uses, coming all of types of conventional ammunition, weapon systems, rockets, missiles, war heads, aircraft bombs, naval mines, depth charges, mines.
The company has the following available disposal facilities in its factory:
- A static oven for burning of explosives, powders and propellants
- Three rotary kiln APE 1236 for cartridges
- A plant for melting and drying explosives
- Installations for the unpacking, cutting, disassembly of ammunition
- Two cryogenic equipment for the cryofracture of sub-ammunition
Laboratory for chemical-phisical tests
The laboratory allows a control of the energetic materials entering and leaving for internal activities. Furthermore, ES has developed chemical and physical analysis methodologies for the qualification of materials of any type at the service of external customers.
Having a strong room available, it is possible to organize physical detonation tests that allow to have certain data, based on the empirical method, in order to make interpretations based on theory more effective.
The company collaborates on an ongoing basis with companies, external bodies and with the university world.
Design of Demil plant and Start-up
The experience in the field of explosives is made available to the customer for the design and construction of specific plants in the demilitarization sector. Through a careful analysis of the needs and characteristics of the site, our experts are able to propose a general framework, and subsequently an executive project, for the construction of individual machines, plants or complete plants in compliance with specific national regulations.
Furthermore, ES has the possibility and the ability to train operators for the specific activities required, evaluating the different aspects and starting the company in the first months of activity.
Production of explosive for civil use
The explosive recovered from demilitarization operations is used in the production of explosive material for civil use.
The chemical-physical laboratory inside the plant allows us to supply the customer with materials with different characteristics and performances, according to needs.
Disposal of air-bags and safe belts
One of the specific activities of the treatment of explosive parts concerns the disposal of air-bags and seat belt pretensioners, through a procedure of preliminary separation of the components and subsequent burning of the explosive parts.
The ES service is the final part of a system for the recovery of discarded and collected materials in the automotive market that involves various partners and major car manufacturers.
Disposal of nautical signal flares
Further disposal activity concerns the signaling flares that have expired and are necessarily aimed at specific destruction activities. The activity of the ES relates to the destruction of the pieces recovered from the collection in port areas.
ADR Transport
ES has a fleet of trucks and trained and qualified personnel for the transport of explosive material by road. It also has the staff to organize transport by train and ship all over the world with the support of its partners and to request the necessary documentation according to the legislation.
Site reclamation
The company has the capacity and experience for the recovery of war remnants and explosives residues within areas to be reclaimed with the aid of special technological equipment.
